Service-learning is an important piece of Communities In Schools and its mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Through service-learning programs, community service becomes an integral part of enhancing teaching practices, student learning and problem solving. The classroom extends to the community as students, teachers and local agencies work together to improve the community in which they live. Communities In Schools of Moore County has incorporated service learning opportunities in our middle school and high school initiatives to increase their exposure to careers within our community, experience civic service and develop a sense of responsibility beyond themselves.
