Communities In Schools of Moore County holds several community outreach events during the year. These events would not be possible without the help of our dedicated volunteers and sponsors.
Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive
Our annual “Stuff the Bus” School Supply Drive is sponsored by Communities In Schools of Moore County, in partnership with the UPS Store, Wal-Mart, First Bank, Staples, the United Way, and Muirfield Broadcasting 102.5FM. Donated school supplies are distributed to all 22 Moore County Public Schools. Monetary donations are used to supplement student activities throughout the school year.
FirstBook ‘Read to Me Day’
FirstBook “Read to Me Day” is a partnership between CISNC and FirstBook (McGraw Hill) that provides Moore County students with 6000 new books each year. First edition books are distributed personally to children throughout the County to take home, read and enjoy as their own.
The Sandhills Family Expo
On April 16th, 2011, Communities In Schools of Moore County (CISMC) and the US Kids Golf Foundation will host the area’s 2nd Annual Family Expo to bring awareness about local programs, camps and organizations for are youth. All proceeds from the event will support CISMC programs targeted at Moore County Schools including mentoring programs, the FirstSchool Garden program and the Career Academy.
