The mission of Communities In Schools (CIS) is empowering students to stay in school, learn and prepare for life

By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children’s unmet needs, CIS provides the link between educator’s and the community. The result: teachers are free to teach and students – many in jeopardy of dropping out have the opportunity to focus on learning.

Upcoming Events

• August 6th, 7th & 8th – Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive – Join CIS, Wal-Mart and Staples as we collect school supplies for area students during Tax-Free Weekend. ‘Stuff the Bus’ School Supply Drive is an annual campaign sponsored by Communities In Schools of Moore County, in partnership with the UPS Store, Wal-Mart, First Bank, Staples, the United Way, and Muirfield Broadcasting 102.5FM. Donated school supplies are distributed to all 22 Moore County Public Schools. Monetary donations are used to supplement student activities throughout the school year. The event is held each August over North Carolina’s tax-free weekend.

• Volunteers NEEDED for Stuff the Bus - We are currently looking for volunteers to help collect supplies at Wal-Mart and Staples on August 6th, 7th and 8th from 8 am to 5 pm. If you would like to help, please contact CIS at (910) 295-1072.
